The Gambia presents its Voluntary National Review at High Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development

For the first time, The Gambia presented its Voluntary National Review (VNR) during the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development on 14 July 2020. The UN provided support to the Government of The Gambia to develop its SDG status reports for the period 2016 – 2019, which served as a critical input into the VNR. In addition, the UN supported the development and dissemination of communication and information materials related to the VNR process, as well as stakeholder outreach and engagement, at the national & subnational levels, to ensure continuous engagement of all stakeholders throughout the VNR process. The U-Report platform was also used to assess youth understanding of the SDGs and the VNR process. While there is a need to increase awareness around the SDGs, the participation of stakeholders during the Voluntary National Review (VNR) has increased ownership of the Agenda 2030.
