Presentation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) at the validation workshop.
Mr. George Lwanda, the Head of the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO) in Gambia, gave a comprehensive presentation at the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) validation workshop.
Mr. Lwanda acknowledged the government's dedication to the Cooperation Framework (CF) and the work done from 2020 to 2022. He emphasized that the CCA was developed by listening to Gambians across national and regional levels and various sectors, ensuring diversity and inclusivity in shaping the CF's vision.
He reiterated that the CF is meant to support the government's green growth focussed National Development Plan (NDP) which he described as "a formidable blueprint for resilience and transformation underpinned by accountability and the concerted mobilization of resources for successful execution".
Mr. Lwanda outlined three strategic priorities for the Cooperation Framework:
1. Green resilience and inclusive livelihoods: This priority aims to enhance resilience to climate-related shocks, ensuring access to sustainable food, clean water, sanitation, and healthcare. It also aims to empower marginalized and vulnerable groups.
2. Human development, social inclusion, and people-centered governance: This priority aims to empower marginalized and vulnerable people to actively participate in functional, accountable, and transparent institutions, ensuring the efficient delivery of services and improving access to quality education and healthcare.
3. Innovative and integrated development financing and strategic partnerships: This priority recognizes the crucial role of partnerships and innovative financing in driving sustainable development. It aims to broaden the partnership landscape, leverage innovative financing strategies, and enhance stakeholder coordination.
Mr. Lwanda concluded by expressing the UN's commitment to embarking on this journey towards an inclusive, resilient, and sustainable Gambia. Despite acknowledging the challenges and uncertainties ahead, he expressed optimism and confidence in the government's NDP, ready to face the future together, making strides towards a brighter, more equitable Gambia for all.
