Engaging Migrants, Health Workers and Community Leaders on World Mental Health Day

In commemoration of World Mental Health Day, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) engaged migrants, health workers and community leaders

500 health workers – including 100 staff and volunteers from the Tanka-Tanka Psychiatric Hospital – were trained across five days on infection prevention and control and psychosocial support. Similarly, IOM donated hygiene items and educational material to the psychiatric hospital, sensitizing its residents on COVID-19. Finally, drawing from their own migration experiences, returnees engaged community leaders in the West Coast Region on the importance of well-being during the pandemic.
